Saturday Ramblings
Good morning,
Well,I am tiiiiiired. That time o'the month always kicks my bahookay, and this time is no exception. The fact that we got to bed late after getting home from the comedy club and watching the end of the Opening Ceremony/ies doesn't help anything, but I'll survive. ;)
and Greg Hahn was just as funny,if not moreso, than last time, but let me back up a moment. Like I mentioned yesterday,my sister's co-worker Adam was the opening act,and he was hysterical too! He's a tekkie, Trekkie,Star Wars, comic book "geek",and he uses that to his advantage for his act. He is also from the area so he adds alot of local humor into his monologue as well. Very funny stuff, and we were able to tell him so afterwards. I guess he sometimes tries out some of his material on my sister, and she was even sort-of mentioned in a joke when he mentioned "a friend of his who said he couldn't move across the river because then he'd be a snob". She joked with him afterwards that she didn't say "snob" and he politely begged to differ, but cool!! :)
Greg Hahn was his usual frenetic, spazatronic self, but did settle down a bit in the middle of his set. He did a few of his jokes that we've heard before but he changed them up a bit so they seemed freshly hysterical. We were laughing so hard (again!!) and I was happy to see that Glenn was actually wiping his eyes from laugh/crying. THAT ROCKED!! I have hyped up Greg Hahn ever since sis and I saw him two years ago,and I was hoping, hoping,HOPING that he wouldn't let me down! I had two Ocean Breeze drinks (pineapple, orange, coconut flavoring, and rum) and Glenn had three Mai Tais, and at one point I was laughing so hard I was afraid I was going to toss my drink back up. =/
I can't even describe how funny he is in person, and while the YouTube video I posted yesterday is highly entertaining,it doesn't do him justice. The bottom line is that if you ever get a chance to see him in person,do it,because you won't regret it. I'm not a prude, but he is not a foul-mouthed comedian (he performs at corporate events as well) and that makes him much easier to listen to,if you can keep up with him! ;)
I had to tape most of Beijing's spectacular opening of the Olympics, but we did watch the rest of it when we arrived home. Tonight if we have the time we will watch some (or all) of the stuff we missed. I am so excited for the Olympics because I always love everything about them from beginning to end (growing up I wanted to be an Olympic athlete, both in Winter and Summer, and have at various times wanted to be a gymnast, ice skater,swimmer,skier,fencer...you name it *lol*),and this time is made even more fun by the fact that two years ago my friend Suzanne went with her son to China so he could participate in a week-long karate symposium, and she brought the proverbial shirt back for me (ya know, the whole "My friend/relative went to such-and-such a place and all I got was this stinkin' t-shirt"). At the time the '08 Olympic shirts weren't supposed to be sold (tsk tsk) making the Olympic shirt she bought technically contraband, and until now it's been sitting in it's package in my drawer. ;)
I'll get it out this week, and hope it's not somehow full of lead or something.
(I know,bad joke =/)

So far I've watched some handball, fencing, cycling, volleyball, badm inton, and rowing, and will no doubt be watching some more later today (gosh I can't wait for Michael Phelps and men's swimming *wink wink*,and of course men's gymnastics *ahem*) at least until the Cubs are on at 3. The Cubs players are cute, too. :)
my Mom survived last night just fine, but has been bothered by her tenants (as you may recall she is renting out her old house),who have been buggin' her to clear a big chunk of tree that fell during that ferocious wind we had earlier this week and she is at an impasse right now. They had originally said that they knew someone that had a chainsaw, but then changed their tune and want her to take care of it. Well, they know she might not be able to afford a tree service and she's moving as fast as she can on it and yet they keep buggin'. Doesn't help that the tree fell between the house (thankfully not "on") and the neighbor's detached garage, and the neighbor is complaining she can't properly let her dog out because the chain link fence is broken too. Anyway,if Mom can't afford a tree service (she's called for estimates) then Glenn,my Grandpa, and I might have to try to get out there and get it taken care of,and if we can't do it then we'll have to pitch in monetarily to get a tree service to do it. What a headache, and once again I must say that I wish Mom had never moved out of her house a year and a half ago, because if we are doing all of this then I wish we were doing it for her and not for some people we don't even know. :(
Lisa, you asked where she is living now,and while she had been living with her sister and BIL in a nearby town, she is now renting a house from another sister and BIL here in Peoria. :)
Not much else. I am hoping to mow the yard today but we have sprinkles right now...I have to work on the palm tree drawings that I am making for VBS at church this next week...I may do laundry...clean the kitchen a bit...dunno.
Well,it's after noon and I am still in my pjs so I had better get up to do something. I have already yelled at the girls this morning so my 'tude isn't gone yet. Uggghhh. I think I am frustrated too, because we have alot to do before school starts and none of it's getting done. Hopefully that can change tomorrow...if we aren't cutting apart a tree.... =/
Have a great Saturday, and GO USA!!

Have a great Saturday, and GO USA!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the show! And that Glenn was laughing/crying too! The Star Wars humor probably would have went right over my head, I've never been much of a "trekkie." I watched it as a kid, but that's about it. Those drinks you had sound YUMMY! I'm thirsty now! haha
We missed the opening ceremonies last night. Around 10 pm my hubby realized we missed them. Oops. He's a big fan of the olympics!
You sitting at The dar Knight right now....I wonder if your scared....
Oh...and the pencil.
Don't tell me about the pencil.
A PENCIL??
Now I really need to find out what you are kinda freakin' about...
....but I need to go because playtime is over since Glenn is home, and Erin needs me to wash her hair in the bath. I want to hurry too, because I want to go to bed!! =/
Does Joker menacingly threaten to erase something important to Batman? I'd like to see the movie because I want to see just how well Heath Ledger did.... ;)
And I'm happy that Glenn was enjoying himself, too. I would love to see Pat have a good laugh. He hates the fact that I laugh a lot, at least I think he does. He does not have a funny bone. He doesn't think I am serious enough. His family, mainly his mom, doesn't laugh, either. It's all business with her. She's uptight and has high blood pressure.
I hope that you guy's can handle the tree situation, if a tree company is to $$. I would imagine that would be expensive.
I'm glad that your mom has her own place, though. I hope that she's happy.
You are so patriotic! I haven't seen any of the olympic's yet...
Strangely, I've had some energy this morning. I had a cup of Maxwell House, maybe that was it?
I'm going to vacuum, now. Have a great day!!
but wait.....
i have to go put on some cherry chapstick first.
*puts cherry chapstick on*
Ooooh say can you seeee?
By the dawn's early liiiight...
What so prooudly weee haaail
at the twilight's last gleaming..."
*LOL*
Awesome!! ;)
I wish I coulda heard it...
and seen ya in your red heart pjs....
I totally thought about you and Pat last night while we were there, and wondered if he'd laugh at Greg Hahn...If he didn't,I'd have to wonder about him....I can't imagine life without laughter, and laughing is a great way to get your metabolism going, too! My kids' giggles are the greatest sound I can think of! ♥
I have yet to find out what Mom has decided to do about the tree, but I think she's gonna go with us trying to do it first. The problem is that Glenn works tomorrow, something she is going to be disappointed about. :(
Mom is happy because my Aunt and Uncle are very good landlords but she is once again regretting ever moving out of her house, and is seriously considering getting her tenants out and moving back in. I haven't posted about it,but she's had to pay for so many problems at that house and would much rather pay for that stuff for herself than for other people. Her renting her house hasn't helped her at all financially (something we could have told her),and she dislikes being kinda "far away" from everyone even though she's in town. The house is kinda off the beaten path in relation to every place she usually goes, and the only advantage to where she lives is that she's close to work at Bradley.
I just love the Olympics, and always have. :)
Yay for vacuuming! Oh,the things we get excited about anymore... =/
Tim wants to kick my bahookay.
That sucks. :(
But at least you got to use the Word of the Day! ;)
Me too! Words of the Day ROCK! ;)
